Substitute Employee Management System

 

General Information

  1. The Ionia County ISD'S SEMS Operator is Sue Harvey. She can be reached at (616) 527-8071, ext. 1269.
  2. All new substitutes must attend an orientation. Because our ISD utilizes an automated sub calling system, you will receive information on how to register and how to use the SEMS system. Please call Sue and schedule an appointment.
  3. All new substitutes must be fingerprinted as of January 1, 2006. Please contact the Ionia County Sheriff's office at (616) 527-5737 to set up an appointment to be fingerprinted. The Sheriff's office is located at 133 E. Adams, Ionia. The charge for fingerprinting is $64.00.
  4. You will not be placed on any substitute list until ALL paperwork is completed and copies have been received by the SEMS Office.
  5. The ISD does the substitute hiring for the following districts: Belding, Ionia, Lakewood, Portland and Saranac. Several of our districts utilize a service, PCMI West, to obtain substitutes from. However, the procedure for orientation and requirements remain the same. More details can be found here.

Substitute paraeducators:

  1. Orientation is held on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.
  2. Please bring your fingerprint receipt, driver's license, and social security card.

Substitute teachers:

  1. Orientation is held on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m.
  2. Please bring your fingerprint receipt, driver's license, and social security card, and a copy of your transcripts showing at least 90 semester hours from a four-year university.
