GREAT PARENTS, GREAT START OF IONIA COUNTY

The Great Parents, Great Start program of Ionia County focuses on providing support to parents with respect to school readiness.  It is a universal access program for all families with children age 0-5 that live in the Ionia County ISD area.  The five components of the program include: information on development of children from birth to age five, enhancing parent-child interaction, including reading for 30 minutes each day, learning opportunities to promote intellectual, physical, and social growth of children birth to age five, promotion of access to needed community services, and promotion of marriage and healthy relationships.

The Ionia County ISD provides information on child development and parent-child interaction to parents in a variety of ways such as written information, web-based resources, and direct instruction through home visits and playgroups.  The information below highlights some of the components of Great Parents, Great Start program for Ionia County.  To find additional information for county programs, link to the Michigan website at www.migreatparents.org and click on the county.  For more information in Ionia, call us at 616-527-4900 ext. 1461 or 1-888-792-4491.
