As we begin the new school year, you may notice some new faces here at the Ionia County Intermediate School District.  This month we are featuring our new Director of Finance, Director of Career & Technical Education, and Principal of Freedom Acres school.  Please join us in welcoming:

Jamie Carnes

jamie carnesJamie came to us from Comstock Park Public Schools where he held the position of Director of Finance since 2009.  Prior to that, he worked for Newaygo County RESA and White Cloud Public Schools in the same role.

Jamie has a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Michigan State University.

Jamie lives in Sparta with his wife Deb, who is the Director of Finance at Sparta Area Schools, and his four daughters.

Jamie is a MSU fanatic and enjoys watching sports, playing golf and spending time with his family.

If you have not had the opportunity to meet Jamie, stop in and introduce yourself.  You will see why we are excited to have him join our team!

Ted Paton

ted patonTed has been Assistant Director of Heartlands since 2012. Prior to coming to the ISD, Ted’s experiences include Assistant Principal at Ionia High School, teacher at Ionia Middle School and Ionia High School since 1998.

Ted has a Bachelor of Arts from Calvin College and a Masters Degree from Aquinas College.

Ted lives in Ionia with his wife Kimberley, and his three sons.

Ted is an avid fly fisherman, Ionia City Councilman, and enjoys spending time with his family.

Angela Miller

Angela MillerAngie came to us from Portland Public Schools where she has been a Special Education Teacher since 2002.  Prior to that, she worked as a special education paraprofessional and Behavior Specialist for Portland.  Angie also works for the Right Door for Hope, Recovery, and Wellness as a Love and Logic Group Facilitator/Respite Provider/Parent Coach.

Angie has a Master in the Art of Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education.  She is currently pursuing her Administrative Certification.

Angie lives in Belding with her husband, Jeff, and their three sons.  Their family is active in the community through their support of the Ionia County Young Marines and various community service opportunities.

In Angie’s spare time she enjoys shopping, camping, and time with her family.
