The Ionia County Intermediate School District Board of Education has agreed to move into
contract negotiations with Mr. Ethan Ebenstein to serve as the district’s next superintendent. The
support was unanimous from the Board.

Mr. Ebenstein has a wealth of superintendent experience. He previously served as
superintendent of the White Cloud Public Schools for three years and is currently the
superintendent of the Comstock Public Schools. He has served Comstock Park for ten years.
Mr. Ebenstein has also been a building administrator and teacher.

Tutt Gorman, President of the Board of Education stated, “The Board is very pleased to begin to
work with Mr. Ebenstein to become the leader of our educational institution. We certainly
appreciated the input provided by the community and staff to help us with this decision. Mr.
Ebenstein demonstrated his commitment to students, staff and community throughout our
meetings with him. He is genuine, approachable and has a deep commitment to help all students
succeed. We are confident he will help us navigate the many challenges we face in serving the
students of Ionia County and provide the local school districts with the support they need.”

It is anticipated Mr. Ebenstein will take over the reins from Jason Mellema on or about July 1, 2018.
